Instructions for Facebook Emoticons
- This is a common WordPress plugins, so treat it as one. If you need a detailed explanation regarding the installation, then you can read my other post: How to Install WordPress Plugins.
- Each smiley or emoticon is generated when the posts are being displayed, not while you’re writing it down. So while you’re in your rich-text editor (or in your HTML view), use this piece of code
: smile :
There is one code for every emoticon, just copy at the file name of the image you want to show (without the extention, of course).
Please pay attention, there are no white-spaces after/before the colon sign (“:”) - To make the smiley are also available in your comment form, edit your comment.php and add this line anywhere you fell suite your theme the best
<?php smilies_clickable() ?>
After all that steps, open a page and on the comment area you should be able to see the emoticons lining up for you to click.
If you face any difficulties, or anything in mind, you feel free to drop a comment here.
